Government Cheese!
Us poor kids had to survie somehow.......hence the cheese! I still remember the first time we got it. We used to cut the cheese (no pun intended....or was it?) with a wire cheese slicer. My mom opens the mighty cheese brick and tried to slice a piece. BING! There goes the wire! Needless to say we always used a knife after that. Many a finger was nearly lopped of in this process but damn that cheese was good! I do remeber that it would never actually melt. It would look a little sweatly and get limp but would never really melt. I think you could have thrown it into the fire and it would still not melt! I think I still have some of it lodged in my lower intestines. Ahhhh the memories!
